The American Reinvestment and
Recovery Act of 2009 (AKA the stimulus package) includes $19 billion for
healthcare information technology. Some of this money will be going to
doctor's offices that use an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
The bill requires that these offices engage in "meaningful use" of a
"qualified and certified EMR" to get the money. It is important that you
know the government has NOT yet chosen who will be the qualifying
agency. They might even set up their own agency.
